Fiera Magazine Issue 01, December 2014
In December 2014, I launched Fiera, a new magazine discovering new talent at the world’s design fairs.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign during which 300 backers pledged £16,332 (against a target of £14,000) to make the project happen, the first issue was nominated for Best New Magazine in the 2014 Magpile Magazine Awards just weeks after its launch.
New designers still believe in the impossible – a crucial trait if design is going to help solve the problems, large and small, that we face today. Fiera exists to make sure their ideas reach a wider audience.
“Fiera provides a carefully curated guide to some of the year’s best designs, as well as their makers and making, and is the perfect mix of visual inspiration, analysis and reflection.” Rachael Steven, Creative Review
“A really great new design title. I love the playfulness of the approach, which begins with a kaleidoscopic overview of the design objects themselves and then spins off into a deeper, more artful appraisal of them, encouraging the reader to flip back and forth as they move through the magazine.” Steve Watson, Stack Magazines
“Fiera Magazine is EXACTLY what designer makers need!” Ted Jefferis, furniture designer
“Whether you’re a journalist, a designer, a buyer, student, or you just have a passion for good design, we cannot recommend Fiera highly enough.” Camron PR
Issue 01 sold out within five months and we are now hard at work on Issue 02.
