The Faro lamp, produced by Bolia, comprises a cylindrical black marble base on top of which a half spherical spun metal shade containing the light fixture sits, held in place only by a magnet. A small ring made of rubber inside the top of the base prevents the shade from slipping out of the desired position.
This composition enables the shade to be adjusted through 360 degrees in the horizontal and 45 degrees in the vertical plane, so it can be moved into any number of positions from a fixed base.
The shade, which is 22 centimetres in diameter, is available in black matt, black chrome and antique brass and is finished with translucent polypropylene.
“Functionality is one of our main objectives – with a great obsession for detail and utility,” say the designers. “We try to make honest products, taking advantage of the strengths of the material. Having the studio divided between two different countries makes us travel a lot; living new situations and meeting new people helps us change perspective and enhance our creativity.”
