HELPING YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR ECO-EFFORTS WITH CLARITY, CREDIBILITY & CONFIDENCE

CONSULTANCY:

Katie Treggiden helps design-led companies talk about sustainability with clarity, credibility and confidence, so they can connect with values-aligned stakeholders, build trust and resilience, and thrive.

If you’re on the hook for what your brand says—or doesn’t say—about sustainability (and if you’re the founder or you’re part of the comms, marketing, innovation or sustainability team, that’s you!), your job is not easy right now. You’re walking a fine line between greenwashing and greenhushing in a climate that is volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous—and that’s not temporary.

With 25+ years’ experience in comms and a deep specialism in design and sustainability, Katie has developed an unrivalled set of tools to help you develop a joined-up sustainable comms strategy to future-proof your business.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

01: The Credible Comms Audit: Share ‘work in progress’ communications, and Katie will review them for clarity, credibility and confidence, using a proprietary model she has developed over decades of working with hundreds of clients. For a one-off flat fee, you will receive a Credibility Score, a 9-point report, a 1:1 call with Katie, and actionable next steps.

02: Editing Services: With a background in journalism and in copywriting for global design brands, Katie offers editing services at strategic, structural and copy levels to ensure that not only are you saying the right things in the most compelling and logical order, using clear, effective and correct language, but that you’re telling a story that will connect.

03: Executive Coaching & Mentoring: Athletes don’t get to the top of their games without coaching, and yet as leaders and change-makers, we are often expected to figure everything out on our own. As a certified professional Blue Health Coach™ (ICF-accredited) and a Change in Nature facilitator, Katie is perfectly positioned to be a sounding board, critical friend and accountability partner as you steward your impact business towards bringing about the change you want to see in the world.

WORKSHOPS:

01: Brand Values: Brand values are the foundational beliefs and principles that should guide every decision a company makes, and yet all too often they are too generic to be useful and have no life beyond your About Page. Katie’s Brand Values workshop will help you to surface honest and differentiated brand values, put ESG (environmental, social & governance) at their heart, and embed them into your organisation so every team member lives and breathes them every day.

02: Brand TOV: A brand’s ‘tone of voice’ (TOV) is the personality of the brand that comes across in written and verbal comms—how it says what it says. Done well, it differentiates your brand, builds trust and emotional connection with your audience and is consistent across touch-points. When it often comes unstuck is in sustainability comms. Katie’s Brand TOV workshop will help you develop and articulate a tone of voice that holds true whether you are sharing complex data, defending yourself against accusations of greenwashing or celebrating a sustainability win.

03: Circular Craft: Craft is inherently circular, and if you’re not embedding ‘craft thinking’ into your business, you’re missing a trick. If you want to know how you can work with local craftspeople and makers to make your business more sustainable, Katie can curate a collaborative workshop combining idea-generating activities, hands-on activities and guest speakers. Previous workshops have resulted in closed-loop reclaimed flooring, a patchwork ‘bee garden’ for biodiversity, and cups made from a cafe’s own waste coffee.

TRAINING:

01: Carbon Literacy Training®: The Carbon Literacy Project offers a day’s worth of Carbon Literacy learning, covering climate change, carbon footprints, how you can do your bit, and why it’s relevant to you and your audience. Katie is a certified trainer and developed the first programme specifically for the design industry. The programme can be offered over one day or two half-days in person or over four lunchtime sessions via Zoom. Participants can work towards individual and organisational certification.

02: How Bad Are Bananas?: "How Bad Are Bananas?" is a science-backed carbon footprint game based on Mike Berners-Lee’s book of the same name. As a trained facilitator, Katie uses this game to introduce Carbon Literacy and educate comms teams on their climate impact in a fun and interactive way, promoting empowerment over guilt. Sessions can be tailored to an organisation’s knowledge level and Net Zero commitments.

03: Self-paced courses: Katie has developed a suite of self-paced courses to help designers, creatives and makers integrate circular economy principles into their work. As pre-recorded sessions, they provide accessible, high-impact learning opportunities for makers with more limited budgets. Prices start from £50 + VAT.

Consultancy is, by its very nature, bespoke so if you can’t see what you’re looking for, please get in touch with a brief or even just the challenge you are facing. Engagements can vary from a few Zoom calls to a 6-month+ relationship culminating in a board presentation, and everything in between, so we’ll create the most appropriate container for you.
